Pre- & Post-Natal Training

PRE- & POST-NATAL TRAINING

PRE-NATAL FITNESS

In the past, pre-natal training was a no-go. Being pregnant meant you had to eat for two and relax. Yes, it was and still is a precious time of your life, but things have changed – for the better, of course!

There has been plenty of research done all over the world regarding this and I’m so happy to report that it is a HUGE benefit for you and your baby to maintain a safe exercise routine while pregnant and growing your bundle of joy.

Typically, the first rule of thumb is if you were physically active before you were pregnant, it is likely safe to remain active during pregnancy. More than likely, your healthcare provider will tell you to remain active, as long as it is comfortable and there are no other health conditions suggesting otherwise.

Benefits of pre-natal training:

- reduced risk of gestational diabetes

- increases your energy and improves your mood

- reduced risk of pre-eclampsia

- improves posture and promotes muscle tone and strength

- reduces backaches, constipation, bloating and swelling

Regular activity also helps keep you fit during pregnancy and may improve your ability to cope with labour. This will make it easier for you to get back in shape after your baby is born.

POST NATAL FITNESS

When you're caring for a newborn, finding time for physical activity can be challenging. Some days you may simply feel too tired for a full workout, and that’s okay. But that doesn't mean that you should put physical activity on the back burner.

 `something is better than nothing´

You can generally start moving around as soon as you feel comfortable doing so. It is normally a 6 week wait until you can start exercising or when your doctor has given you the green light (it could be sooner or later)

Post-natal training benefits:

Help restore muscle strength and firm up your body

  • It raises your energy level and improves your sense of wellbeing

  • Promotes weight loss

  • Improves your cardiovascular fitness and restores muscle strength

  • Conditions your abdominal muscles

  • Improves your mood, relieves stress and helps prevent postpartum depression

Just remember, every pregnancy is different! Soak it all up, embrace where you are in life and how blessed you are to be able to give life and enjoy it!
